Welcome to Simonstone St. Peter's C of E Early Years Foundation Stage
I am Mrs Booth the Reception (EYFS) teacher and I am supported in class by Higher Level Teaching Assistants Mrs G Sutcliffe and Teaching Assistant Miss C Fitzpatrick.
We are very fortunate in the EYFS as we also have great support from parents and volunteers.
EYFS currently has 20 Reception children.
The Reception children in the EYFS are taught through the Foundation Stage Curriculum. This Curriculum focuses on seven areas of learning:-
- Personal Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
We love what we do!
We know that for our children to grow and achieve, they need to be happy, feel loved and love what they are doing! We place the wellbeing of our children at the centre of our work and our caring staff nurture the development of each and every child. Our ‘irresistible’ curriculum is designed to inspire a real love for learning. Our vibrant learning environment celebrates the work of our children. We want every child to succeed and we want you to share in this success.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind and love your neighbour as you love yourself.” (Luke 10: 27)
Christian Value - Love
Our chosen hymn to support our class value is 'Chain of Love.'
A love for one another, life and learning!
Simonstone St. Peter's C of E Buddies
At Simonstone St. Peter’s C of E Primary School we have a buddy system. Our Year 6 children buddy up with our new reception children. Buddy systems teach and give children the opportunity to practice, the important values of respect, care, valuing differences, responsibility, friendship and including others.
Through looking after and caring for younger, vulnerable children who are just starting school, older children learn the skills associated with empathy and compassion through activities in the classroom and in the playground. A buddy system can help children to feel valued and supported, teach important social skills and create a caring ethos in the school.
Follow us on X to see our learning in Action. EYFS will make an X appearance regularly, so watch this space! #Learningisfun!
