Simonstone St Peter's Church Of England Primary School

Church School Distinctiveness

'The Lord is my Rock' Psalm 18:2

Building a firm foundation based on faith and knowledge to enrich life's journey. We learn to connect with God through valuing the world we share and nurturing our friendships; working together as a Christian family to achieve our best, learning with confidence to fulfil our dreams.

We have recently visited our neighbours at St Peter's Primary School, Burnley to collaborate in a Praise Along song recording and worship. It was great to make new friends and experience another local Church of England school. We recorded the Golden Rule, a worship song that will be played in other schools across the UK. How fantastic is that!

Look who came back for a return visit - Prag Birk! She prepared workshops for every class - two days fully immersed in Hinduism teaching.

We were really excited to welcome the Worship Council from St Peter's, Burnley. We spent the afternoon making soup, visiting prayer spaces and getting to know each other. We will be visiting St Peter's after Easter! #workingtogetherwithourcommunity

Our Christian Values

Summer Term 2021

To celebrate our school Christian Values, we invited an artist to school! Edward Foster worked with all the children and staff to create our own 'Christian Class Values Showcase' - this was planned, prepared and created by the whole school. The result was four vibrant canvases, displayed in St Peter's Church.  This artwork reinforces our school and church links; celebrating our Christian values, that are firmly rooted in all we do at

Harvest Celebration 2020 - 'Hope within Reach'

We are FLOURISHING outdoors!

Take a look at all the exciting RE lessons taking place outside in our school grounds. We've focused on Creation this term, with all children enjoying Wild Welly Wednesday! Class 1 built their own Creation 'Big pictures,' class 2 chalked the days of Creation, Class 3 planted trees to embrace God's Creation and class 4 planted poppies and designed their own willow stars!

Spirituality Day 2019 - What a special day we had! To pay our respects to Mrs Rossi and to reflect on the Autumn term, we have held a Spirituality Day. The day was full of prayer and song, with Mr Galea visiting and Mrs Topham delivering yoga sessions! Larry the Therapy Dog visited each class and we all spent time outside. The fire pit was lit and we created special stars and shared our treasured memories. After meditation and craft - we displayed our crosses for all to see.

Our new MOSAIC creation - celebrating 'The Lord is My Rock' and improving our prayer garden. Many thanks to our friend Prag Birk for helping our project. Well done everyone, we are all a small part of a big creation.

Our recent Interfaith assembly! We welcomed Bea Foster back to school with her friend Samina, from Building Bridges in Burnley. They shared their personal faiths in worship and we were able to ask lots of questions. They showed us their Holy books and places of worship. The similarities between the two faiths was really amazing. 'I now know how similar the two faiths are and I respect the differences too!' year 5 boy

Blackburn Cathedral! Year 6 celebrated their next chapter with a visit to Blackburn Cathedral. They shared this day with children from across the diocese and sang songs, prayed for their future and met the Bishop of Burnley!

Prag Birks visited us recently to celebrate her faith and culture. We danced, ate samosas, experimented with henna art and created our own class Rangoli art projects. It was a unique fun project! All elements were interactive and we celebrated diversity and differences.  'This was a really fun day and I can't wait to show my family my Mehndi (Henna) tattoo!' year 6 girl

Class Worship - Our year 5/6 children have been planning, preparing and presenting class worship. They have created an special atmosphere for prayer and reflection. Well done class 4!
