CURRICULUM DRIVERS - THE GEM PROJECT

At Simonstone St Peter’s we SPARKLE!

We believe that teaching children how to learn and have a passion for learning is our key role as educators. Developing the skills and tools to become successful learners will allow children to be successful in every aspect of their lives, both in and outside of the classroom.

The Gem Project is an approach to teaching and learning behaviours, developed by educational advisor Dr Tom Robson. The Gem Project identifies key learning behaviours, which we spend time focusing on within class and embedding throughout our curriculum.

Each half term we focus on a new ‘Learning Power’ in our classrooms:

Kindness, Focus, Cooperation, Collaboration, Resilience, Responsibility

Each week we count how many gems each class have collected in their

 ‘Learning Power Jar’.

The class with the most gems receive a gem on their classroom door.

The class with the most gems on their door at the end of the half term celebrate by coming to school dressed in the gem colour that we have been focussing on.

Take a look at our 'Gallery of Winners' below!

Ready, steady, SPARKLE!
